EAPPI short term consultancy post in Ireland
The World Council of Churches Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel sends international teams to live with vulnerable Palestinian communities in the Occupied West Bank, monitor human rights abuses, write reports, and provide protective presence. In Britain and Ireland the programme is administered by the British Quakers. They are now exploring the possibility of funding a part time support worker in Ireland to service the Irish Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) in their advocacy work. They are seeking to appoint a consultant, who will assess the possibilities of funding a part time support worker for Irish EAs. The final date for applying is June 10th . Statement on the killing of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh
There have been many statements following the killing of the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh and the brutal attack of the funeral cortege in Jerusalem by Israeli police. I now provide a link to one of these statements by the Convivencia Alliance – interfaith for justice, representing Christians, Jews and Muslims. This statement was issued on May 17th. South Hebron Hills/Masafer Yatta
A recent decision by the Israeli Supreme Court allows for the demolition of eight Palestinian villages and the displacement of over a thousand people, including 500 children. A recent post by EAPPI/UK and Ireland suggests that international pressure is the last hope for the affected people before the Israeli army begins the demolition of people’s homes and dreams. The excuse for this decision is that the villages are in a military training area, Firing Zone 918, which resembles southern Lebanon. Please see the following information from EAPPI/UK and Ireland about taking action to help prevent these evictions.
